Firewood
We supply well seasoned, mixed hardwood or softwood logs, split and cut to the length required for your woodburning appliance or open fire in the Glasgow, Edinburgh and central Scotland areas.
Having heated our home and cooked with wood ourselves for over 20 years, we know a thing or two about woodburning and are more than happy to pass on our knowledge, if requested!
Our 'load' is approximately a cubic metre. Working on the continental model, we never supply logs by weight but by volume only. Wood retains some moisture, even when seasoned, and the many species of wood have differing densities and different rates of drying, making pricing by weight a nonsense. We use builders 'Big Bags' which are approximately a cubic metre. The bags are hand packed rather than loose filled, ensuring you get as near a solid load as possible with less air gaps.
We now have many hundreds of cubic metres of mixed hardwoods over two years seasoned, split and stored in our airing sheds ready to go for this season. There are also several thousand tons of mixed Scottish hardwoods seasoning outside for the coming years. Our price reflects the time and care we have put in to providing you with the best quality firewood you can burn today with a secure supply for the future.

Storage
We encourage the buying of wood during the summer months (the earlier in the year the better) and stacking outdoors in your own garden, preferably in a traditional logshed. This needn't be a fancy affair, just something to keep the rain off, but let air pass through. This ensures a superb supply of firewood in a perfect state for burning in the winter months. A neatly stacked logpile looks great too!
Here are some bespoke sheds we have built for clients, making good use of available space. Note the slatted sides and large overhang at the front to protect the logs from the weather. We also advocate dividing the shed into bays allowing you to fill up a section as soon as it is empty, ensuring a rotation.
